2025 Radiology Bootcamp Another Great Success!
The Wayne State Radiology Program hosted a Radiology Boot Camp for fourth-year medical students at Detroit Receiving Hospital during the week of April 14, 2025. Faculty and residents delivered lectures on a variety of radiologic topics designed to prepare students for success in their upcoming careers. The sessions highlighted common radiologic pathologies that students are likely to encounter during residency training. To provide a well-rounded experience, the lecture series also included a simulation lab session at the Harper Hospital Interventional Radiology Department. During the hands-on workshop, students had the opportunity to practice placing central lines under ultrasound guidance.
The lecture series was not solely clinical; several sessions were dedicated to professional development. These included Q&A panels focused on navigating the preliminary year of radiology residency and recommendations for the best resources to prepare for training. Ultimately, the boot camp was packed with valuable information for the next class of radiology residents. The faculty received positive feedback from students and requested suggestions for improvement to enhance future sessions.
Many students appreciated the opportunity to interact closely with both residents and faculty, gaining insight into the day-to-day realities of radiology training. The hands-on components were particularly well received, as they allowed students to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting. In addition, students reported that the professional development sessions helped alleviate some of the anxiety associated with transitioning from medical school to residency.

Natalie George is a third-year medical student at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine with a strong interest in radiology. She is exploring both the diagnostic and interventional fields of the specialty and has developed a particular passion for imaging and procedural medicine.
