Information for applicants
WSU-DMC Diagnostic Radiology Residency is an advanced 4-year program and only accepts applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
Six Diagnostic Radiology residents are selected each year through the National Residency Matching Program (NMRP). Three Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology (ESIR) positions are available. Interested residents submit an application to the ESIR program director at the end of their R-2 (post-graduate year 3) to apply.

Is this a categorical or advanced program?
We are an advanced 4-year program. You must match into a separate preliminary clinical PGY-1 program.
When is the last day for applying to the program? When are interviews conducted?
There is no last day for applying to the program. However, please note that interviews invitations are offered on a rolling basis from mid-October to late December.
Can you tell me more about ESIR?
We accept 3 residents per year into our Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology (ESIR) program. Interested residents may apply in the second half of their R2 year (PGY-3). Factors for application consideration include:
- Formal interview with IR Staff
- IR and DR rotation performance
- In-service exam score
- Research experience
By the end of their ESIR training, residents willmeet all Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) requirements:
- 8 IR rotations o 3 IR-related rotations
- 1 ICU rotation
- Minimum 500 IR procedures for graduation
Can you tell me about call policy/benefits?
Residents will complete one 4-week block of night float/year and are given autonomy to craft their schedule with fellow residents. Each of our residents is allowed 21 paid time off days for vacation, 3 personal/sick days, and 19 academic days per year.
